Background:

Supermagnus Software was created in early 2004 as a central place to disseminate the photographs taken and software written by David Hanauer. Most items on the web site are free of charge. A few are being sold for a small fee in order to help cover development and web hosting costs.

About the name "Supermagnus":

The name Supermagnus comes from an amalgam of the latin words Super (over, above, beyond) and Magnus (great, large).

About the logo:

The logo design was inspired from in image of an exploding supernova taken by the Hubble Space Telescope, an image entitled "Supernova 1987A Rings". This image can currently be found at http://hubblesite.org/newscenter/newsdesk/archive/releases/1994/22/image/a/.
